FAQ
Common Questions
If you don’t see your question here, feel free to include it when you reach out. This list will evolve over time based on the kinds of projects and questions that come up most often.
General
What kinds of projects do you take on?
T2CAD focuses on 2D drafting, particularly fire alarm shop drawings, floor
plans, and CAD conversions. If you’re not sure whether your project
is a fit, a short email with scope details is usually enough to find out.
What software do you use?
Drawings are produced in AutoCAD so you can expect a clean, structured and professional result.
PDF exports are provided for review, submittal, and record copies. DWG files can be included for an additional fee.
How do you price projects?
Quotes are based on scope, complexity, and schedule. Once you share the
project information, you’ll receive a clear number before any drafting
work begins.
Scope & Information
What do you need to start a fire alarm project?
Architectural backgrounds (PDF or CAD), any existing fire alarm plans,
device cut sheets, specifications, and a brief scope description are all
helpful. The more information we receive at the start, the smoother the process.
What about floor plan work?
For new or existing spaces, hand sketches with key dimensions, photos, or
any prior drawings all help. The more information you provide, the more
accurate and useful the final plan will be.
Can you match an existing title block or style?
In most cases, yes. If you send a sample sheet or DWG, the layout, title
block, and general appearance can be aligned with your standard as closely
as possible.
Delivery & Revisions
What file formats do you deliver?
PDF is standard for review and submittal. Where applicable, and for an additional fee, DWG files can be
included so you and your team can make future updates if needed.
How are revisions handled?
Minor revisions based on your first round of review are typically included
in the original quote. Larger scope changes or AHJ-driven redesigns may
incur an additional fee, which will be discussed before the work is done.
Can you help with AHJ comments?
If you receive comments from an authority having jurisdiction that require
drafting updates, T2CAD can usually help translate those into plan changes.
The scope and any additional cost will depend on the extent of the comments.
Engineering & Responsibility
Do you provide engineering or stamping?
T2CAD provides drafting and shop drawing services. Official engineering design
and professional seals remain the responsibility of the
licensed engineer of record and/or other design professional on the project.
Who is responsible for code compliance?
Code compliance and final approval decisions rest with the project’s
design team, contractor, and authority having jurisdiction. Drafting support
is meant to help present the design clearly, not to replace those roles.
I need an engineer for my project, do you know any that can assist?
Yes! We have a network of licensed PEs that are experienced in the fire/life safety industry and can assist with project oversight.
Simply mention that you are in search of an engineer when requesting a quote, and we can bring them into the fold on your project for an additional fee.
